Book Design

The French hiker and photographer Sylviane Ceaux commissioned us to design a limited edition book to celebrate her 50 years living in Mexico.

Sylviane came to Mexico a bit by chance, but she stayed there for the love of the country. For Sylviane, Mexico is a country that surprises and that we never stop discovering!

"Our work for this book was comprehensive since we not only designed the cover and the interiors, but also gave the book its name, and together with Sylviane, we made the selection of the photographs that we would include in the celebration edition."

Naming_and_Cover

The name Captis, an inflection of the Latin word Captus (perfect passive participle of capiō "seize, take"), and the book cover itself, arose from Sylviane's clear position -during the selection of the photos that we would use in the book- to communicate in each election her total understanding and appropriation of the moment to which the image corresponds.

"Franklin understood very well and with great sensitivity the approach I wanted to give to my photo book, and I loved the result."
